Episode #124: Changed my life!

Episode #124: Changed my life!

Welcome back to another week of the Book Friends Forever podcast! This week they are talking about the smaller but more pivotal moments that changed the course of their life. As usual, they catch up on each other’s lives, talk about what’s on their minds, and express what they’re grateful for.

If you enjoy listening to this podcast, please tell a friend about it! Spread the good word! The book friends would love some new rates and reviews and Apple Podcasts! Thank you for your continued support.

“How have you been?”

Grace has had a tough stretch. Her mom has Covid (she is on the mend!) and her husband and daughter were in a car accident while dropping Hazel off at her first day of school. (They are also FINE as is everyone involved in the accident).

Alvina experiences the remnants of Hurricane Ida in New York and deals with some basement flooding!

People that changed our lives

The Book Friends talk about the smaller people and events that changed their life, not so much just discussing the big and obvious ones.

Find out how young Alvina decided to go into book publishing, eventually landed her job at Little Brown, and how she was introduced to the life-changing world of podcasts.

Grace talks about how she was influenced to attend RISD, wrote her first published book The Ugly Vegetables, and how she decided that she wanted to become an author after entering a contest in 6th grade! (She got 4th place and the 1st place winner was Dav Pilkey who wrote “Captain Underpants” series.) She mentions this story in Year of the Dog.

What have we been eating?

While Grace has been working on her Maya Lin biography for the She Persisted Chapter Book Series, honey crips apples have been her snack of choice. Alvina has been enjoying watermelon and cottage pie…shepard’s pie made with ground beef instead of lamb.

Gratefuls

Grace is grateful that everyone is ok from the car accident and that her mom is feeling better. She is thankful for times when social media is helpful and she can get support from friends and fans. Alvina is grateful for the coffee alternative, mud water!

If you become a Book Friends Forever Podcast Patreon member, YOU can send in your own grateful! They’ll be read on this podcast.
