Episode #133: How We Organize Our Lives

Episode #133: How We Organize Our Lives

Welcome back! Thanks for listening to another episode this week of Book Friends Forever. Grace and Alvina talk about how they organize their lives, from their daily routines to how they organize their bookshelves. A few important reminders:

Catching up on each other’s lives…

Grace has a fun Halloween and went dressed as a lobster. (Thanks to a friend that had some extra costumes laying around!) Hazel went as Katara from Avatar. Grace’s other podcast, Kids Ask Authors, reached it’s milestone 100th episode! Alvina had a nice “staycation” where she visited the Brooklyn Museum and saw the Christian Dior Exhibit. She also made it out to Coney Island, and the New York Aquarium. For Halloween, she went to a trunk-or-treat with Stephen’s family. This sparks a conversation about the many different kinds of Halloween celebrations.

Organizing One’s Life:

Grace and Alvina both walk us through their daily routines from sunrise to sunset. They talk about routines, rituals, goals, and what helps them with staying organized. The book friends discuss what in their daily schedules has changed since the pandemic. They dive into the topic of email management, book shelf organization, and using helpful tools such as Trello and Airtable.

Fortune Cookie Segment: “What have we been reading?”

Grace:

  1. The Legend of Auntie Po by Shing Yin Khor

  2. Boogie Boogie, Ya’ll by C.G. Esperanza

  3. The Cucumber Quest by Gigi D. G.

Alvina:

  1. All Thirteen: The Incredible Cave Rescue of the Thai Boy’s Soccer Team by Christina Soontornvat

  2. Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler

  3. The Inheritance Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Gratefuls:

Alvina is grateful that she is loved and accepted by Stephen’s family and that he is also loved by her family. She feels incredibly lucky that they all like to spend time together.

Grace is grateful that she’s raised an incredibly kind-hearted daughter when she witnessed Hazel naturally being kind to another peer on Halloween.
