“How have you been?”

Grace has been busy preparing for ALA and wrapping up the school year with school visits.

ALA Annual Meeting 2022

This is the first in-person annual conference since 2019. Alvina asks, “What have you done so far to prepare for ALA?”

Grace is super excited! She’s dealing with her love/hate relationship with travel. “I just have to get back into the swing of things!” (like school….excited but nervous) Grace has been thinking of nice thank-you gifts to give to the legacy committee when she finally meets them. “Maybe I’ll make socks!… I painted them each a little tiger holding a thank-you flower in its tail.”

Alvina doesn’t have to prepare too much for ALA. She has to just follow her schedule. As an editor, it’s all about author-care. “I meet authors and bring them to where they need to be. There are breakfast’s, lunches, and other dinner events. When I have a gap in my schedule, I’ll try to meet with agents.”

Grace and Alvina share their worries about COVID while attending upcoming events.

Fortune Cookie Segment: Random Tips!

-Grace: Wear your name tag up high and easily read your name. You can tie your lanyard higher around your neck.

-Alvina: Wear flats and layers. It will be hot in DC but very air conditioned inside places.

-Grace: Wear shoes that are about a half size too big! That’s what Kate Middleton does!

-Icebreaker tips

Gratefuls!

Stephen has his first colonoscopy. He said “It’s good that I came because they removed 7 polyps,” I’m grateful for Stephen taking care of his health. He’s being extra careful.

Grace is grateful for how well we actually managed last year’s school year. She’s very proud of the parents who worked hard on the pods that lasted the whole year. Grateful because all four families had to be that committed and work that hard.

Thank you!
