The chickens have been really fun and exciting but they have also stirred up some conflicting feelings for Grace. She is reflecting on how different her life would have been with Robert. Alvina brings up the term “secondary loss” and they both discuss how they experience this in their own ways when grieving their late husbands.

For a trip down memory lane, Grace and Alvina talk about their experiences at BookCon and BookExpo. It was great to see these recognitions of Year of The Dog!

As usual, the Book Friends Forever end by saying what they are grateful for. Alvina is grateful that she has children in her life; the children of her friends. Grace is grateful for the chickens because of the positive traits they bring out in her daughter.
