Travel updates!: Alvina is back on U.S. soil after being on sabbatical where she spent time in South Africa and Greece! She will walk you through some of what that adjustment is like. You’ll also hear how Grace experienced some travel snafu’s while trying to get to California for a talk at UCLA.

Everyone has a list of pros and cons about social media in their lives. Learn about Grace and Alvina’s general philosophies on it. For one thing, it can be too much of a distraction from the focused attention needed to write and edit, but it can also provide really positive feedback on your work.

The friendship and connections made on social media are what they say keeps them from totally abandoning it. Alvina talks about that one time when she was traveling in Greece and a friend of hers messaged her and told her she HAD to try fried feta! She later saw it on a menu, ordered it, and fell in love with it. Every time she ordered it, she snapped a photo of course and tagged the friend who recommended it. This kind of connection piece definitely falls into the “pros” of social media category!

Grace recalls a fond memory when someone posted Where The Mountain Meets The Moon fan art and wished her a Happy Birthday on social media!

For a trip down memory lane, Alvina mentions that one time she ALMOST left Little Brown Books for another company (she doesn’t say which one!) This sparks a conversation they have about publisher loyalty.

As usual, they end with talking about what they’re grateful for. Grace is thankful for Instagram because of some of the great feedback she gets (like the fan art!). Alvina is so thankful for Wifi.
