Episode #205: Chop Suey! Integrator or compartmentalizer, cooking, and book banning episode!
Welcome back! Grace and Alvina talk about whether they are integrators or compartmentalizers when it comes to their work and personal lives. They also talk about their relationship with cooking, book banning, and they welcome Alison Morris of First Book to talk about what we all could be reading.
How have you been?
Hazel is getting ready to graduate from 5th grade! Alvina had a fun Manhatten day with Stephen and found Taiwanese food!
When you work, are you more of an integrator or compartmentalizer?
When writing When the Sea Turned to Silver, Grace remembers it was so difficult to be an author and be a mom at the same time. When she wrote Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, she integrated Hazel more and that she wrote the book because she was a mom. Alvina talks about her earlier days of being an integrator and how now she is more of a compartmentalizer. Grace realizes she doesn’t have any friends that are not involved in her work.
Relationship with cooking
Grace and Alvina talk about their relationships with cooking and wether or not they enjoy leftovers! Does Alex enjoy cooking?
More about book banning
The White House has created a department of education coordinator for book bans! It will be interesting to see what kind of actions that will take. Is the book banning situation getting better?
