Grace and Alvina continue their "publishing curriculum" series and welcome special guest Danielle Cantarella, Executive Director of Sales at Hachette Book Group. They discuss everything from how she got her start in publishing (it's a surprising path!), how she used to sell in to Barnes & Noble, what she thinks about preorders, and what her least and most favorite parts of her job are. For the Fortune Cookie segment, they talk about what they're favorite Thanksgiving foods are!

How have you been?

Grace has been working on mainly the artwork for Ling and Ting ahead of the Lunar New Year. Her print shop is open! Grace has “fomo” about not attending the NCTE convention and feeling nervous about her book beginning to be read! Alvina has recently been to the Society of Illustrator’s Original Art Show, The NCAC Gala, and The National Book Awards. Danielle has been buys planning her baby’s 1-year old Birthday party!

Danielle talks about her path into publishing that began in Orlando, FL. Danielle will walk us though some details about her job at Hachette. Danielle shares her favorite and least favorite parts about her job.

Grace: Mashed potatoes when they’re GOOD! Danielle: Stuffed mushrooms and cranberry sauce only OUT OF CAN! Alvina: Stuffing and pie!
