Welcome back! Grace and Alvina continue their "publishing curriculum" series and welcome special guest Katie Tucker, Senior National Account Manager at Hachette Book Group. They discuss everything from how she got her start in publishing, how she works closely with the School and Library Marketing department, if she pitches every book on the list, and her favorite part of her job. For the Fortune Cookie segment, they talk about what they've been reading lately.
How have you been?
Grace talks about how her nuclear family has been handling the results of the election. The book friends were supposed to record on November 6th, but they weren’t quite in the mood. Alvina also talks about her Nov. 6th experience at work. Victoria Stapleton presented Grace’s new book, The Gate, The Girl, and the Dragon.

Alvina and Stephen went out to a great new restaurant near their apartment on election night and she’s feeling grateful for her safe neighborhood and the community that she lives in. Katie is grateful her gardening and the fall harvest she has grown. Grace is grateful too where she lives and how safe it is. (Blue town in a blue state). Grace also finally signed a contract with The Kennedy Center and having them make her books into future productions! Many thanks to Mo Willems and Jaqueline Woodson for helping her get in contact with someone at the Kennedy Center.
