Thank you for tuning into another episode with the Book Friends Forever! Grace and Alvina talk about the 2021 Newbery and Caldecott Award winners and see how they did with their predictions. They discuss their past award favorites, and discuss the potential effects of the award.
“How have you been?”
Grace has been busy preparing for a Lunar New Year celebration with her family and sending out a New Year newsletter. Alvina has been really busy at work with long zoom meetings. The ALA mid-winter virtual meeting had four special guests: Peter Brown, Leslie C. Youngblood, Tori Sharp, and Laekan Zea Kemp.

A variety of books were honored this year and they were wonderful. Diversity was front and center. Grace and Alvina talk about how they did with their award predictions from the last BFF episode. They also discuss effects of the award on your life and career.

“What are you grateful for?”
Grace is grateful that a minor medical issue is gone, (perhaps now that the election is over) and Alvina is grateful for their new mattress topper and getting a good night’s sleep.
