Episode 28: Podcasts!
Today’s podcast is about…podcasts! Alvina and Grace talk about their personal history of podcast watching, why they started this one, and what they plan to accomplish with it in the future.
Alvina recaps a little bit of her weekend in Harlem checking out some new live music and getting Dim Sum with friends! They talked about Grace’s book and how much they love Dim Sum not only for the culinary experience but also how social it is as well.
First, Grace gives us an update on her travel snafu’s from her trip to Spokane! The event was a wonderful success, however, the travels were not. In the midst of getting a flight cancelled, a hotel booked, and then catching another flight the next day, Grace misplaces her driver’s license and it is lost. The only way she can get back home is having her good friend break into her home and FedEx her passport! (Her husband and daughter were away also). To make a long story short, she finally gets home and then her ID was also recovered by Delta!
Podcasts!
Grace and Alvina would like to thank everyone who participated in their survey regarding the #Bookfriendsforever podcast! They received a great deal of positive and constructive feedback and they share some of the things that they would like see happen with the podcast. For one thing, it will still be available once a week on Thursdays. Each episode will be kept to 20-30 mins long. They will also include one minute book reviews so you can look forward to that!
The first podcast ever listened to…
GRACE: Katie Davis’s Brain Burps.
ALVINA: This American Life.
Some other favorite podcasts that they enjoy are …The Slate, WTF, Radio Lab, Creative Pep Talk, The Yarn, and Sleep With Me (the podcasts for insomniacs!)
The #Bookfriendsforever podcast was created because Grace and Alvina believed that their friendship and story was unique enough that people would be interested in what they have to say. They also knew an added bonus would be that it would be easy to keep in touch with each other!
As usual, the book friends forever end the episode sharing what they are grateful for today. Grace is so grateful to be HOME! Alvina is grateful for smart people coming up with smart solutions.
