Catching Up:

Alvina has returned from California and is getting ready for the upcoming Focus Meeting at work. They’ll be working on books launching for Summer 2023. A few authors Alvina named with upcoming books: Tracy Subisak, Zetta Elliot, and Kelly McWilliams (author of Mirror Girls and Agnes at The End of the World.)

Mid Year Review!

“How are we doing on our personal resolutions and our podcasts goals for this year?”

Alvina lets us know how she is doing with her personal goals such as looking into fostering children with Stephen, drawling up her will, organizing books in her house, decreasing the amount of take-out during the week, and trying to get back to more letter writing. Grace was on a mission to not buy any clothes this year, drink more water, learn how to make more advanced Tik Tok videos, and be more grateful for Alex and to let him know when she is! Tune in and find out how they’re doing on these personal life goals.

Alex, Grace, and Hazel at the Legacy Awards Banquet.

How have they been doing on the podcast goals!? Grace and Alvina check in how they are coming along with some of their goals to get at least 6 BIPOC guests on the show, pronounce names more correctly, cut down on verbal tics, and find alternative transcript options.

Fortune Cookie Segment:

Publishing news!

The Book Friends discuss the recent Publisher’s Weekly article, “NPD Gauges the Children's and YA Book Market”.

Gratefuls:

Alvina is grateful that she did not get Covid during her recent travels and for her great at sitters! Grace is grateful for her good friend Jarrett Krosoczka. Jarrett wrote an article (unbeknown to Grace) that was published in their local newspaper about her winning the Legacy Award!
